RYLA 7690 Executive Director
RYLA changed my life. As simple as that sounds it is true. When I attended all the way back in 2000 in FL, I learned so much about leadership and community service and what it means to truly give back to this world. But even more than what I have learned over time is I am a part of RYLA because of what I have seen others do in their lives after challenging themselves at RYLA. If I can keep pouring into this program and into these RYLArian’s I get to keep seeing them go out and change the world. And THAT is amazing.
I am an accountant in life, piano teacher on the side, as well as a homeschool mom of two boys and a pastor's wife in our community. I am a member of the Sanford Satelitte Rotary Club with my Rotary focus being RYLA 7690. My life is busy but that is how my husband and I have chosen to "Be The Good" in our own lives -as many ways as we can touch other people's lives we are going to try!
Our Management Team consists of dedicated men and women from our district that are responsible for the actual day-to-day responsibilities of our conference. They include several key positions that are critical to RYLA 7690's success and work directly with the Exectuive Director. These positions are filled with either Rotarians from the local Rotary clubs that have a strong passion for youth and leadership, or come from prior staff members (Counselors) who have risen up to join the Management Team.
Logistics Chair
This person handles the behind the scenes logistics of our conference. The dorms, the dining, the transportation, technology and classrooms needed, among many other things!
Program Chair
This person handles every minute of our conference from the moment the the RYLArians show up until the conference is over. They line up speakers, topics, any support to the speakers, all activities for fun, and so much more!
Staff Chair
This person is in charge of our counselors and JuCos. We know that having GREAT staff is the core of our conference so we dedicate a whole person to supporting these people and helping through challlenging situations. They train our staff on safety, on needs of our students, and how best to support each other during the conference!
Student Support Chair
This person supports anything our students might need during the conference. Meal considerations, medical needs, and generally making sure the conference is great for the RYLArians. They help support the other Management Team Chairs as well that we are doing the best experience possible!
Public Image Chair
This person documents our conference with both photos and videos. They upkeep our website, our social media and generally just make sure we are sharing what we are doing with Rotarians, parents, and anyone who wants to follow RYLA 7690. They also help design flyers, presentations, and any marketing needs for the conference!
Our RYLA 7690 Board is led by our Board Chair Connolly Walker (Rotarian - Pittsboro Rotary Club). The Board Chair is appointed by the current District Governor of Rotary District 7690 and is considered a district position.
The Board that serves with the Board Chair consists of a minimum of 7 other Rotarians from around the district that have attended RYLA and have caught the vision and desire to change students lives for the better. They help decide the overall vision and future of RYLA 7690 as well as support the Management Team with anything needed to ensure the success of each year's program.
To reach out to our Board to get involved you can always write us directly at ryla7690@gmail.com.
